(Retired Projects)
Pony Chung Foundation launched the Pony Chung Overseas Doctorate Scholarship in 2021, completing its humanities support curriculum following the Pony Chung Academic Grants in 2013 and the Pony Chung Humanities Scholarship in 2020.
By supporting outstanding researchers in humanities in their career paths starting from a graduate program and earning a degree to post-doctorate research and employment as a professor, the Foundation trains talented individuals in the fields of humanities.
The scholarship is for graduate students slated for enrollment in prestigious humanities doctorate programs overseas. Any humanities major with literature, linguistics, philosophy, history, or Korean studies listed as their major can apply for the program. Applicants will submit an application, acceptance letter from an overseas graduate school, Statement of Purpose (SOP), and English grades. Recipients will be selected after an application screening and interview process.
No more than 8 doctorate program enrollees will be selected with zones being divided into two: the US and UK, and Europe and Asia.
Recipients in the US and UK zone will receive USD 40,000 per person annually, and those in the Europe and Asia zone will receive USD 15,000 per person for three years following their dispatch.
