Vietnam was selected as the first recipient of the foundation’s overseas scholarship program promoted to nurture future talents, because Vietnam’s spirit to pioneer the future and its remarkable development with abundant growth potential is in line with Honorary Chairman Se-yung Chung’s spirit of taking on challenges. Pony Chung Foundation supports the Vietnamese talents who will bridge Korea and Vietnam, and become leaders of the future.
Vietnam Scholarship
Pony Chung Foundation Signed agreements with Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh City Vietnam National University and Hanoi, each in 2006 and 2007, and started its Vietnam Scholarship program.
Every September, the Pony Chung Vietnam Scholarship Program selects first-stage candidates from Vietnam National University (Ho Chi Minh and Hanoi campuses) based on their ability to see the world in a broader perspective, academic achievements, and financial status. That group is then shortened to a total of 60 recipients (30 from each school) through the foundation’s final screening process in early October. Scholarship ceremonies are then held from late October to November at both schools. The selected recipients are granted 500 USD, equivalent of full tuition fees and living expenses for one year.

a 10th year celebration ceremony with
Vietnam National University – Ho Chi
Minh City, inviting more than 100 alumni.

Vietnam Invitation Scholarship
We started this intensive program by signing an agreement with the Korea University Graduate School to continuously support the Vietnamese scholarship recipients to carry on their studies. The program is open to previous Pony Chung Vietnam Scholarship recipients who have graduated from university with outstanding academic performances, and is preparing to study abroad for a master’s course. Up to 2017, Pony Chung Foundation invited 9 students and granted them more than 240 million KRW.
Through the foundation’s screening process, two students would be selected as final recipients among students who have been admitted to Korea University graduate school. Throughout the two years of studying for their master’s degree, the students are provided with the admission fee, full tuition fee, a monthly living expense of 900,000 KRW, maximum 500,000 KRW for thesis assessment and printing,
round-trip flight ticket, etc.

Vietnam Exchange Scholarship
We started this program in 2016 by signing an agreement with the Office of International Affairs of Korea University to provide an opportunity to recipients of the Pony Chung Vietnam Scholarship majoring in Korean to study the Korean language more comprehensively.
Two of the Vietnam Scholarship recipients who major in Korean would be invited to Korea University as exchange students and would be provided with various opportunities to help improve their Korean language proficiency. For one year, the recipients are provided with a monthly living expense of 900,000 KRW, round-trip flight ticket, tuition fee for the summer course at the Korean Language Center, application fee for TOPIK, etc.
